The Pompey Town Board held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 6:30pm. A video of the full meeting can be viewed on the Town of Pompey Facebook Page.
2024 Town Budget
The Board discussed and made a number of post-public hearing adjustments to the preliminary budget, resulting in a final 2024 budget. The budget can be viewed on the Town of Pompey Website.
Pivot Energy Solar Farm
After a brief discussion on recommendations from the Environmental Conservation Commission, Supervisor Rotondo made a motion to schedule a public hearing, the next step in moving forward with a project that has caused much contention within the Town. Town Councilor Diana Carpenter seconded the motion. Town Councilors Ann Christmas, William Lipe, and James Loomis voted down the motion, resulting in a 3-to-2 vote against holding a public hearing.
Pivot energy legal counsel asked the Board whether or not they should return for further discussions at a future meeting, to which Supervisor Renee Rotondo replied, “I wouldn’t waste your time.”
Local Law for Short-Term Rentals
After a brief discussion, the Board voted and unanimously approved the local law and established a $25 fee for a three-year permit.
Home Occupation Law
After several months spent finalizing the preliminary text of this new law, the Board set a date for a public hearing to take place on December 12 during the regularly scheduled Town Board meeting. Other News
Town Clerk Nikki Reid announced that there will be a Tree Lighting at the Town Hall on Sunday, December 3rd at 2pm with refreshments, holiday crafts, tree decorating, and a “special guest” arriving around 2:30pm.
Supervisor Rotondo reported that the Town has renewed their enhanced services agreement with the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department at a rate of $88.79. The Sheriff’s Department typically covers special detail as requested, along with occasional road patrol.
