On Sunday, March 19, people from far and wide battled the snow and cold to offer in-person birthday wishes to long-time Pompey resident Sylvia Shoebridge, who turned 100 this year!
The room was filled with old friends, neighbors, and newcomers who refused to let the weather keep them from this auspicious occasion. A delicious array of baked goods graced the tables and, at the front of the room next to Sylvia’s seat of honor was a table full of beautiful flowers, gifts, and greeting cards that were certain to provide Sylvia with many days of enjoyment.
When asked what her secret is to a long life, Sylvia responded in typical Sylvia manner — “Well, I never smoked, and I never drank… too much. I’ll leave the rest to your imagination.”
Cheers to you, Sylvia! We wish you many more turns around the sun!
